I was born and raised in Harrow and moved into Hertfordshire when I got married. My husband and I chose to live near Berkhamsted because of the proximity to my place of work and to Ashridge for dog walking (I have two large dogs who need walking twice a day !). We moved to our current house in 1988. Despite the centre of Berkhamsted being a Conservation Area and a large part of Dacorum borough being Green Belt and National Landscape (formerly Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), I have seen considerable change in the years I have lived in the area; unfortunately not always for the better.

I have a degree in Economics but I’m hopeless with money so I went into Local Government ! I retired early and needed to keep busy, so volunteered for various organisations.
Berkhamsted and its surrounds are so wonderful and need protecting from development, and by joining the BCA’s main committee and Townscape group, I feel that I am ‘doing my bit’ in trying to stop inappropriate development.
